We’re a proud sponsor of Eat2Give, a one day event here in Santa Monica that combines several of our favorite things: Supporting local, dining out at amazing spots and giving back to Santa Monica charities.
30 PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS and 23 PARTICIPATING CHARITIES!
The more people participate, the more money is raised, the more exposure the restaurants get and the more people find out about the non-profits. Talk about a win/win!
So if you’re in the area next Saturday, pop in to support the below establishments (and their aligned charity partners). We’re already mapping out our culinary tour and hope to see you along the route!

How Do You Ride in Style?
This year’s WestEdge floor-wide Opening Night Party will benefit Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. A highlight of the evening will be the auction of one-of-a-kind bicycles, generously donated by Schwinn to support the LARMH mission of providing comfort, care and support to caregivers of seriously ill children .
25 leading architects, designers and taste makers are being invited to show their creativity and put their style mark on a bike for charity. Each bike artist/designer has chosen their favorite Schwinn bike model, and will then have 4-5 weeks to customize their bike. Southern California is THE place for year-round outdoor living and entertaining. So what better venue to launch the West Coast edition of DIFFA’s Picnic by Design than with us at The Barker Hangar this Nov. 5.
While the city may be different, the DIFFA concept remains the same. Leading architects, designers and industry talents will create over-the-top picnic baskets that will be displayed and available for purchase at the fair as part of an online auction. On Saturday, November 5 from 3-6 PM, Picnic By Design guests will enjoy an afternoon of food and fine wine in the WestEdge outdoor lounge, designed and furnished by Roche Bobois. The lucky winners will be announced at the closing of the auction.
“DIFFA is excited to partner with the energetic leadership at WestEdge Design Fair to bring Picnic By Design to LA! We know there is an incredibly generous and growing design community in Southern California who is willing to join the fight against HIV/AIDS—and this is an incredible opportunity to raise funds and awareness. We look forward to the start of this partnership and are grateful for the generosity of all involved!” said Johanna Osburn DIFFA executive director.
Picnic By Design is hosted in cities throughout the country such as New York and Las Vegas and is part of DIFFA’s effort to raise awareness and critical funds toward the mission of supporting HIV/AIDS organizations across the country. For more information about DIFFA and its fundraising efforts visit www.diffa.org.
If you or your design firm would like to create a picnic basket at Picnic By Design LA and support this great cause, please download the participation packet here or get in touch with Cray Bauxmont-Flynn to sign up.
We hope to see you there!
We just arrived in NY yesterday and are thrilled to be back for the many design events that comprise NYC Design Week, officially called NYCXDESIGN. We will be drinking lots of coffee (and cocktails) to power through 7 days of design happenings in all different shapes and sizes (and NYC neighborhoods).
This year, for the third year in a row, we’re aligned with WantedDesign as an industry partner. WantedDesign opened their Brooklyn show last week (which runs through May 17) and opens WantedDesign NYC this Friday, May 13 at the Terminal Store (269 11th Avenue between 27th and 28th street St.). WantedDesign NYC runs for 4 days so that should give ample time to get down to Chelsea to experience all there is to see and learn (don’t miss the design conversations hosted by Metropolis Magazine).
One of our favorite sections of the fair is Launch Pad, an initiative for emerging designers and their market ready prototypes who are hoping to catch the eye of manufacturers interested in producing their design. A jury of professionals will review the 30+ projects and award the best one with the “Launch Pad Best of 2016” award. The winner will receive the opportunity to exhibit at WestEdge in November, a special feature on Design Milk, a $2500 cash prize courtesy of Design Within Reach and an in-person design meeting with DWR’s Director of Merchandising.
AND new this year, you can vote on your favorite Launch Pad exhibitor online here. Voting runs through May 16 so let us know your favorite and, of course, come check out this talented group in person. We’ll be raising a glass with the designers and celebrating the winner on Monday, May 16 at the show. Follow us on Instagram for updates.
We’re proud to support Thrive Tribe Foundation‘s Big Night Out Gala this Saturday, May 7 in L.A.
Big Night Out is designed to showcase entertainment, LA lifestyles, fine dining, architectural design, outstanding auctions, and more. It has become one of the region’s most anticipated events and fundraisers. Over four hundred guests will gather at a grand estate for the event’s Premier Gala Reception and then proceed to various themed dinner parties for the rest of the evening. The Premier Gala Reception will be hosted at the Hancock Park 1920’s English-Tudor style home of Dean Hansell, founder of GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and leader in the LGBTQ community. From here, guests will then depart to one of many uniquely themed dinner parties throughout the area.
The dinner parties are hosted at an array of architecturally significant homes and famous sites. Dinners in the past have featured themes including 50th Anniversary of Swanson TV Dinners, Barbie Turns 50, Italian Nights, Cuban-themed Havana Nights, Jazz on the Rocks – Starlit Evening of Jazz, Art Night, and many more.
Tickets are $250 for the full night of reception and dinner party or $150 for just the gala reception. Proceeds support the end of HIV transmission through empowerment, community & connection. Learn more and make plans to join this celebratory evening at:
Last Friday, we had the privilege of attending the 2016 Pasadena Showcase House Premier Night. Now in its 52nd year, the Show House did not disappoint. 30 designers came together, each putting their decorating talent to work and leaving a house that is charmingly Pasadena with modern style sensibility. The showcase house runs through May 15.
Here’s a peek at some of the rooms on display; there’s no shortage of inspiration and innovative design ideas to be found here.
We hope you have a chance to check out the house for yourself. In addition to touring the home, there’s a restaurant and shopping bazaar on the grounds—so if you are looking for a perfect Mother’s Day excursion, this may fit the bill!
We’re pleased to offer WestEdge friends $5 off the ticket price. Enter WE2016 online here.
Ticket proceeds help support local symphonic, cultural and educational musically oriented programs for youth. The organization has awarded over $20 million dollars in gifts and grants to support the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Walt Disney Concert Hall, among other non-profit organizations.

We’re gearing up for a great time next month at Palm Springs Modernism Week which kicks off on February 11 and continues through February 21 with eleven days and ten nights of cocktail parties, exhibitions, lectures, films, expos, home tours, and much more.
We’ve loved attending in past years (who doesn’t enjoy a great excuse to get out of the cold and spend a few days in the warmth and sunshine of the desert). This year, we’re excited to be a Modernism Week partner and will be presenting a program at their CAMP venue.
We’ve teamed up with the Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) to host a “Hollywood Designs on TV & Film” panel discussion, followed by a champagne reception and book signing on February 14 from 1-3 PM.
Jeannine Oppewall, production designer of Academy Award® nominated films including LA Confidential and The Good Shepherd and Ellen Brill SDSA, set decorator of Emmy Award® nominated TV shows including American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck, will participate in a conversation moderated by author Cathy Whitlock. This talk will reveal key influences, anecdotes and inspirations as well as explore Hollywood’s continuing contributions to modern style.
A champagne reception and book signing of Cathy Whitlock’s Designs On Film, will immediately follow the panel in the ELLE DECOR Lounge, giving attendees a meet and greet opportunity with the panelists.
Tickets are now on sale ($20/ticket) at the Modernism Week website. Take a look there for additional event details, along with lots of other event listings to help make the most of your Modernism Week itinerary.
A big thank you to our event sponsors: Astek Wallcovering, Bassman Blaine, Grace Home, LA Mart, Warner Bros Design Studio and MidCentury LA.
We are off to NYC this week for a non-stop 6 days of design events that comprise NYC Design Week, officially called NYCXDESIGN.
NYCxDESIGN kicked off this past Friday with an opening party in Brooklyn, and runs through May 18, bringing together all the disciplines of design, commerce, culture, education, and entertainment with a full, varied program, including exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios.. For the complete list of design fairs and other happening to help you plan your week, click here.
This year, for the second year in a row, we’re aligned with WantedDesign as an industry partner. WantedDesign opens this Friday at the Terminal Store (269 11th Avenue between 27th and 28th street St.), and is celebrating its Fifth Anniversary. WantedDesign continues to be an anchor event of NYCxDESIGN and should be on everyone’s list of must-attend events.
One of our favorite sections of the fair is Launch Pad, an initiative for emerging designers and their market ready prototypes who are hoping to catch the eye of manufacturers interested in producing their design. The winning designer will be afforded a spot at WantedDesign 2016 and WestEdge Design Fair October 22-15, 2015.
In addition to our role with Launch Pad, we’ll be on hand throughout the fair and are giving away a “Weekend of Design” trip to WestEdge Design Fair in Santa Monica this October 22-25. Stop by our space in Gallery 6 to enter our instagram contest. Just snap a selfie in our booth’s Vioski chair and include the GO WEST backdrop created by the innovative Italian brand Mosaico Digitale.
We hope you’ll stop by and see us at WantedDesign. The event opens this Friday May 15 for press and VIPs, and runs through May 18.
And, this year, WantedDesign has also expanded with a new, second location: WantedDesign Brooklyn, at Industry City in Sunset Park. This strategic expansion reflects the growing importance of Brooklyn as a hub for multidisciplinary creative thinkers and makers.
